ABOUT THE EXPEDITION
The Nacra Adventure: a thrilling ten-month journey where nine teenagers will master the art of sailing on three high-performance Nacra catamarans. Their training culminates in an epic voyage, navigating the open seas from Vero Beach to the stunning shores of Guana Cay in the Bahamas.
Part 1: The Training
A select team of nine intrepid teenagers will undergo an extraordinary nine-month training regimen, mastering every facet of sailing high-performance Nacra catamarans. This rigorous training encompasses intense strength and fitness regimens to enhance stamina and endurance, along with practicing advanced swimming and water survival skills.
Part 2: The Journey
The pinnacle of this epic journey is a ten-day voyage to the Bahamas. With a 50’ Viking yacht shadowing for safety and filming, the adventure begins in Vero Beach, sailing to West Palm, crossing the open waters to West End, then navigating east to the Abacos, and finally south to the shores of Guana Cay. The plan is to connect with local children and youth, sharing the joy of sailing on our Nacra catamarans.
THIS OPPORTUNITY SERVES TWO KEY PURPOSES
First, it will foster character development in nine teenage boys, using sailing to challenge and grow them into young men. Sailing small boats is a proven tool for helping young people grow as individuals, and this adventure will push these young men and challenge them in so many ways. Second, upon reaching the Bahamas, the team will give back by introducing the children of Guana Cay to catamaran sailing.
CAPTURING THE MOMENT
We've already started filming a full-length documentary of the adventure. Every moment of the ten-month program and the voyage will be captured, including stunning underwater and drone footage. The documentary will premiere at a Vero Beach movie theater, followed by visits to churches and youth groups to share our story and inspire the community.
